Watch Mexico vs Bafana Bafana on 3 Mzansi TV channels

Bafana Bafana will lock horns with El Tri at 21:00 at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

For local fans, the good news is that the match will be available on three different television channels.

The game revives memories of the 2010 FIFA World Cup opener. On that occasion, Siphiwe Tshabalala’s iconic goal helped South Africa secure a 1-1 draw against the Mexicans at Soccer City.

WHERE TO WATCH MEXICO VS BAFANA BAFANA

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup opener will be broadcast live on SABC 1, SABC 3 and SABC’s digital website and app. DSTV’s SuperSport will also air the game on channel 202.

South Africa arrived in Mexico last week and have spent the past few days preparing for the tournament opener.

Coach Hugo Broos has been boosted by positive developments in camp, with experienced left wing-back Aubrey Modiba returning to full training after concerns over his fitness.

The Belgian tactician is expected to field a competitive side featuring a blend of experienced internationals and emerging talent.

BIG TEST AWAITS BROOS’ MEN

Mexico enter the match as favourites, particularly with home support behind them at the iconic Estadio Azteca.

The two nations meet with contrasting fortunes in the FIFA world rankings. Mexico are currently ranked 15th in the world, while South Africa sit 60th.

However, Bafana Bafana have shown significant progress under Broos in recent years and will be eager to test themselves against high-level opposition.

The fixture also provides an opportunity for several younger South African players to showcase their abilities on the international stage.

With kick-off set for 21:00, supporters can tune in via SABC 1, SABC 3 or SABC Sport (channel 202) to watch all the action live.
