South African Grammy-winning superstar Tyla has added another major achievement to her growing international career. The singer is officially joining the Disney family after securing a role in Disney and Pixar’s highly anticipated animated film, Toy Story 5.

Tyla will lend her voice to a brand-new character named Inflatable Flamingo for the Sub-Saharan African release of the film. The movie is set to arrive in South African cinemas on Friday, 19 June 2026.

The exciting announcement marks another global milestone for the singer, who continues to make waves far beyond the music industry.

TYLA JOINS THE WORLD OF TOY STORY

For many fans, Toy Story is one of the most beloved animated franchises ever created. Now, Tyla gets the chance to become part of that legacy.

The singer could hardly contain her excitement when she learned about the opportunity.

Speaking about joining the production, she said, “When I was asked to join the production Toy Story 5, I was so excited. This is like the first time I was on the managers every day. What’s happening on Toy Story? I just couldn’t believe that the offer was even presented to me. It’s like literally Toy Story, I’m with Woody and Buzz Lightyear.”

The role carries special meaning for Tyla because she grew up watching the films with her family.

“I just grew up watching Toy Story, it’s such a big movie in my family. My parents love it, my whole family love it. The fact that now we get to watch it with my little voice in it is insane,” she shared.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM TOY STORY 5

This time, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the toys face a challenge unlike any before.

The story explores the growing influence of technology on children. Bonnie, now eight years old, becomes fascinated with a smart kiddie tablet called “Lilypad.”

As Bonnie spends more time with technology, her toys struggle to compete for her attention.

Jessie now leads Bonnie’s room. She works hard to keep the toys united as they begin to feel forgotten and left behind. Meanwhile, Buzz Lightyear joins the fight to prove that traditional toys still matter.

ANOTHER GLOBAL MILESTONE FOR TYLA

Tyla’s latest Disney role comes during an exciting time in her career. The singer recently secured a place on FIFA’s official World Cup 2026 album, which was officially released on Friday, 5 June 2026.

Her involvement in Toy Story 5 marks another major international achievement as she continues to expand her influence beyond music and onto the global entertainment stage.
