Enough was enough for former Big Brother Mzansi contestant Ashley Ogle. The star took the legal route and served her mother, Desiree Ogle, with a cease-and-desist for the harmful allegations she had spewed.

Ashley Ogle’s mother’s damning accusations

On 2 June 2026, gossip blog page Maphepha Ndaba shared screenshots of the legal document Desiree received from Ashley’s legal representatives on 1 June 2026.

According to the documents, the mother hopped online and accused Ashley of using drugs, worshipping the devil, wrongfully evicting her from her home, and cheating on her child’s father. The last accusation also included Desiree allegedly telling her grandchild’s father to take an HIV and paternity test.

The defamatory statements, which Ashley notes as false, forced the TV personality to meet with sponsors to preserve their relationship.

A portion of the document read:

“It is accordingly our instruction, as we do to demand that you refrain from making further defamatory statements or any related statements, and from making any mention of Ashley Ogle online entirely, except for in once-off compliance with paragraph 12 below.”

Paragraph 12 read that Ashley’s lawyers instructed Desiree to publish an apology within five days of receipt of the letter. Failure to carry out the instructions could result in a fine or imprisonment, or claiming compensation for any resultant damages.

South Africans side with Ashley Ogle

Many local internet users rushed to the comment section to applaud Ashley’s actions, while a few sided with Desiree.

“Good for you, Ashley. We are tired of hearing one-sided stories, and I love how you are playing it by the book,” said @nandz_khumalo.

@lisakanyam shared in the comments, “You don’t owe selfish parents your peace, and it’s okay to walk away from them if they cause you pain.”

@noxyndimande stated, “We are tired of narcissistic parents. Good, Ashley.”

@motha4061, who seemed to believe Desiree’s allegations, remarked, “A mother knows her child more than strangers. If she says she’s a cheater and a liar, that’s a fact!”
