Pop superstar Tyla left fans in amazement when she sang the a capella version of the late American singer Aaliyah’s classic hit At Your Best (You Are Love). The South African award winner previously mentioned that she considered Aaliyah one of her idols.

Tyla’s music medley

As she entered the month of June, Tyla took to her Instagram account to share a clip of herself singing a few verses of songs by notable artists. Apart from Aaliyah, she also covered Justin Bieber’s Down To Earth and Tink’s Treat Me Like Somebody, to name a few.

Aaliyah’s hit, the last in the lineup, made the biggest impact for social media users, as Tyla showed off her raw vocals, which echoed throughout her large bathroom.

Fans enjoy the ‘free concert’

Several members of the online community gathered in the comment section with praise for Tyla’s talent.

“Wow, this was such a treat for us fans. I love this. Your voice is so beautiful, Tyla,” said @vonamel_music.

@defile_42 asked the public, “What did we do to deserve this free concert and music video?”

@nozipombere proudly remarked, “Represent Johannesburg, baby girl. Sending you a kota to eat.”

Tyla’s homage to Aaliyah

It’s no secret that Tyla loves Aaliyah. At the 2024 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs), the She Did It Again hitmaker attended the event wearing a blue-and-black tiger-striped Roberto Cavalli dress from the designer’s autumn-winter 2000 collection.

In 2000, at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), Aaliyah famously wore the black-and-yellow version.
