Senegal dominates awards as Ellis clinches third successive accolade

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Champions Senegal were the biggest winners at the 2022 CAF Awards held in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday evening.

Former Liverpool forward and now Bayern Munich Player Sadio Mane won the biggest award of the night after he was voted the Men’s Player of the Year.



Senegal coach Aliou Cisse was voted Men’s coach of the year, while the Senegalese national team walked away with the Men’s national team of the year.

Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis clinched the Women’s coach of the year for the third consecutive time. CAF Women’s Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns were crowned the Women’s club of the year.

Player of the Year (Women): Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria & Barcelona)

Coach of the Year (Men): Aliou Cisse (Senegal).

Goal of the Year: Pape Ousmane Sakho (Senegal & Simba)

National Team of the Year (Men): Senegal

Young Player of the Year (Men): Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal & Tottenham Hotspur)

Young Player of the Year (Women): Evelyn Badu (Ghana & Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies/Alvaldsnes)



Interclub Player of the Year (Men): Mohammed El Shenawy (Al Ahly).

Interclub Player of the Year (Women): Evelyn Badu (Ghana & Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies/Alvaldsnes)

Club of the Year (Men): Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco)

Club of the Year (Women): Mamelodi Sundowns 🇿🇦
