Liam Jacobs Set for DA Return After PA Move

Posted on June 1, 2026

Former DA MP Liam Jacobs is set for a major political return to the Democratic Alliance, less than a year after leaving the party for the Patriotic Alliance.

According to senior party sources cited by News24, Jacobs is expected to return to the DA after a dramatic exit in June. His move back marks another twist in a political career that has already drawn major attention.

The DA Western Cape also confirmed Jacobs’ return in a social media post, writing: “Home is where the heart is. Welcome back, Liam Jacobs!” The party also described the move as “a new chapter with familiar roots.”

Senior Sources Point to Consultant Role

News24 states that two senior DA sources said Jacobs is set to return to the party.

According to the sources, DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis argued for Jacobs’ return as a consultant during an online meeting on Sunday evening.

The role has not been officially detailed beyond that. No further information has been confirmed about what Jacobs’ work as a consultant would involve.

Return Comes After PA Defection

Jacobs left the DA in June and joined the Patriotic Alliance.

At the time of his departure, he described the move in strong personal terms. He said he was “finally free” and “finally home”.

That makes his return especially striking. Less than a year later, the DA is publicly welcoming him back, while senior party figures appear to be backing his re-entry into the organisation.

What This Means Politically

Jacobs’ return comes at a sensitive time for party politics, especially in the Western Cape, where the DA and PA have both been fighting for influence.

The DA’s public welcome suggests the party wants to frame his return as a positive homecoming rather than just another political switch.

For now, the confirmed facts are limited. Jacobs is set to return. Senior sources say Hill-Lewis made the case for him to come back as a consultant. The DA Western Cape has publicly welcomed him.

More details are expected to follow as the party clarifies what Jacobs’ new chapter inside the DA will look like.
