Orlando Pirates defender Innocent Maela has revealed the Buccaneers are very ambitious and want to lift one or two two trophies this season.

The Buccaneers last won a trophy in 2020 when they lifted the MTN8 title, which ended their six-year trophy draught. However, the last league title dates back to 2011/12.

Maela, 29, has now stated the team have high ambitions under new coach Jose Riveiro this season and want to add a trophy or two.

“We are a very ambitions club,” he said during the club new kit launch.

“We know that we have another opportunity this season to rectify some of the things that we didn’t do well last season.

“We know what we have to do to make our supporters happy. We know that we have to win a trophy or two.

“But most importantly entertain our people and make sure they come to the stadium to enjoy watching us play.

“As I’ve said we’re very ambitious this season but we know what we have to do as players but we believe in the team, we believe in the squad.”
