Bafana Bafana’s World Cup departure delayed by visa problems

Bafana Bafana’s departure for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico has been postponed due to visa-related issues.

The team was scheduled to leave the country on Sunday as preparations intensified for their opening match against hosts Mexico on 11 June.

According to some reports, the squad and technical team are still waiting to receive their visas. Head coach Hugo Broos is reportedly the only member of the travelling contingent who has obtained his visa.

The delay could have a significant impact on Bafana‘s preparations. The team had planned to hold a 10-day altitude training camp before the tournament, but those plans may now be disrupted depending on how quickly the visa situation is resolved.

Bafana Bafana are also scheduled to face Jamaica in a warm-up match ahead of the World Cup, with the fixture expected to play a key role in Broos’ final preparations.

The visa complications have sparked frustration among supporters, with many taking to social media to express their disappointment.

Some fans have directed their criticism at team manager Vincent Tseka, questioning how the situation was allowed to develop so close to the team’s departure date.

With less than two weeks remaining before their World Cup opener against Mexico, Bafana Bafana will be hoping the issue is resolved swiftly so they can focus fully on their tournament preparations.

Bafana fans blame Vincent Tseka over visa delay

@Makute_M wrote: “What exactly is Vincent Tseka paid to do? Visa issues just a few days before the World Cup kicks off?”

@KB_Ramasimong wrote: “Reminder: Mr Vincent Tseka was never sanctioned for his unfathomable yellow card mistake. I wouldn’t be surprised he dropped the ball again as always.”

@_uHloni wrote: “Vincent Tseka, the same team manager who failed to pick up that Teboho Mokoena should sit up Lesotho match in the qualifiers and cost us three points is at it again.”

Who should be blamed?
