Inside the storyline of ‘Kwa Baba’

Set in Diepkloof, Soweto, Kwa Baba explores the complicated relationship between love, tradition, identity and family secrets. At the centre of the story is Zwelakhe Mkhize, a young businessman determined to build a successful future with the woman he loves.

However, his dreams are interrupted when he discovers an unresolved traditional debt left behind by his late father — a revelation that threatens both his future and his family’s reputation.

As Zwelakhe struggles between honouring tradition and protecting the people he loves, viewers are taken on a journey filled with betrayal, sacrifice, hidden truths and emotional confrontations. The series tackles relatable issues affecting many South African families, including identity, family expectations and the search for belonging.
