Update On Chiefs’ Striker Trialists

With Kaizer Chiefs understood to be chasing the signing of another striker, iDiski Times has learnt that Burundian international Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana has impressed the technical team.

Chiefs have released the likes of Samir Nurkovic, Lazalous Kambole and Leonardo Castro, while bringing in Ashley Du Preez, leaving their forward department a bit short ahead of the 2022/23 season.

However, they are still keen on adding more firepower upfront and have had a few players on trial, including Bimenyimana as first reported by SABCSport.

The 24-year-old, who ironically scored a goal in FNB Stadium for his country in a 1-1 draw against Namibia last month in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, has joined the camp for pre-season to be assessed by the technical team.

And the club’s technical team around Arthur Zwane and Kaizer Motaung Jr. are believed to be hugely impressed by him.

Bimenyimana has featured in three training matches for the Glamour Boys, scoring two goals, with his trial continuing until the management gives the green light on whether he will be signed or not.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone striker Musa Kamara was also invited for trials but there has been some controversy around his arrival and Chiefs opted to cancel his flight ticket on the eve of his departure for Johannesburg last week.

You can read the whole story around Kamara’s saga in this week’s iDiski Times as reported by senior newspaper writer Velile Mnyandu. Edition 63 is out in Shoprite stores in Gauteng and you can pick up your copy FOR FREE.
