In a touching tribute to the man that loved and raised her, Angel of Mine singer Monica announced that M.C. ‘Billy’ Arnold Jr., her father, has died.
She made the announcement on her social media, attached to a gallery of her and her father from a very young age, to the newest videos and pictures as his health declined.
She captioned the post: “Dad, I Love You & Letting You Go I honestly wasn’t prepared for but I’m Happy You are Free … No More Pain , No More Suffering… I understand as Your Daughter that I have to release You… You Said “If God See Fit for Us To Keep Living, Then We Keep Living” … I know that to be true.. I LOVE YOU… Still your only girl …”
Arnold was father to Monica and her two brothers, Montez Arnold and Jermond Grant Arnold.
Monica burst onto the music scene at the age of 14 with her debut single, Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days) in April 1995.
She collaborated with Brandy to produce smash hits like The Boy Is Mine, which made such an impact that the pair recently wrapped a very successful The Boy Is Mine tour 28 years after the song made waves.
The 45-year-old singer is mother to three children, two boys and a girl.
