Two-time Olympic champion and marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge had nothing but kind words to share after spending time with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi. The pair met up in Cape Town days after Eliud competed in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, finishing in 16th place.

Siya Kolisi inspires Eliud Kipchoge

Eliud took to his TikTok account on 25 May 2026 to share a series of pictures of himself and Siya bonding, with a rugby ball not too far behind. He described the back-to-back Rugby World Cup-winning champion as a “true legend” and inspiration, both on and off the field.

“He shows that no matter where you come from or what your background is, you can achieve great things in life through hard work, belief, and determination.”

The Ethiopian athlete also pointed out Siya’s community work across Africa, not only through rugby but also through the Kolisi Foundation, a non-profit organisation that Siya and his ex-wife, Rachel Kolisi, founded in 2020 to change narratives of inequality.

He concluded in the post, “Thank you for the great morning, Siya. I am truly inspired by you, and I’m glad to say I can call you a friend now.”

@maxcluer told social media users, “So good to see this. Class lasts forever, and here are two of the best to have ever done it.”

“The collab we never knew we needed!” exclaimed @charlieojur.

@audreykaspar stated under the post, “Look at that laughter, so lovely. What a beautiful soul, you just see it. Very special moment for them both.”
