BUSINESSMAN MAN B AND TWO CO-ACCUSED GRANTED R5,000 BAIL IN KUGOMPO COURT
Businessman Mlindelwa “Man B” Tyekana and co-accused Siyasanga Mashologu and Daluxolo Willie have been granted bail of R5,000 each in the KuGompo Magistrate’s Court.
According to Mdantsane TV, Man B’s defence lawyer known as Mr Phakade argued for Tyekana’s release, citing his role in the community, five children aged 2 to 22, employees and artists who depend on him, and the fact that he has no prior convictions and handed himself over to authorities.
For Mashologu, the defence said he had pending cases but never absconded, while Willie’s lawyer highlighted his role as a single parent of four children, with no prior convictions and a clean record with police.
The magistrate noted all three submitted themselves to authorities and complied with police, adding that Tyekana and Willie had much to lose by fleeing, and that Mashologu, though in a weaker position due to a prior conviction on appeal, was not considered a flight risk.
The state opposed bail, saying the three face serious charges and posed a risk of re-offending, citing the 16-year-old victim in hospital and alleging the accused visited the victims’ homes.
The magistrate ruled the matter would ultimately be tested at trial, noting conflicting versions from the state and defence and saying the court could not yet determine who was telling the truth. He said the petition showed strong community support and that it was unlikely the accused would intimidate witnesses directly.
Bail was granted with strict conditions that the accused must not contact witnesses or victims.
