Chiefs axe co-coaches Ben Youssef and Kaze
Just days after dodging questions about the club’s technical future, Kaizer Chiefs management have officially swung the axe. Amakhosi have confirmed the departure of co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze following a high-stakes meeting at Naturena on Tuesday morning.
The news has been validated by the club in an official statement, confirming that the duo’s expiring two-year contracts will not be renewed.
The Glamour Boys chose not to drag out the speculation, releasing a direct statement to the Amakhosi faithful.
“With the season concluded, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze following the end of their two-year contracts with the club.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to the coaches for their dedication and contribution, and wish them all the best in their future.”
The exit marks the end of a turbulent yet highly fascinating chapter for Chiefs. Ben Youssef initially arrived at the start of the 2024/25 season, followed by Kaze in October 2024. Both served as the trusted lieutenants to former head coach Nasreddine Nabi, before unexpectedly taking the steering wheel when Nabi abruptly parted ways with the club in October 2025.
The ruthless decision to cut ties with Kaze and Ben Youssef strongly signals that Chiefs are looking for a complete tactical reset ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Fans might not have to wait long to see who will take over the hottest seat in South African football. The club concluded its announcement with a tantalising promise to the supporters.
“More announcements will follow during the course of the next few weeks as we build up to the start of the new season.”
The hunt for a blockbuster head coach is officially underway at Naturena. A few names including that of Pitso Mosimane have been bandied about.
