Kaizer Chiefs part ways with Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly decided to part ways with co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze following the expiry of their contracts.

According to media reports, the coaching duo will not continue at Naturena despite overseeing the club’s strongest league campaign in six years.

Third-place finish

Ben Youssef and Kaze guided Amakhosi to a third-place finish in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season – a significant improvement from last season’s ninth-place finish and the club’s best league showing since the 2019/20 campaign.

The duo also helped restore stability to a side that had struggled for consistency in recent years, with Kaizer Chiefs securing 54 points and guaranteeing a return to continental football.

Amakhosi and Durban City will represent South Africa in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Fresh direction

However, despite the progress made, Kaizer Chiefs are understood to have opted for a fresh direction ahead of the new season and are expected to appoint a new head coach soon.

The move signals another shift in the club’s technical set-up as management looks to build on the momentum of an improved campaign and mount a stronger challenge for silverware next season.

Neither Kaizer Chiefs nor the coaches had officially confirmed the departures at the time of publication.

Who would you like to see take over as Kaizer Chiefs coach?
