On 20 May, television personality Nonkanyiso “LaConco” Conco announced that she will host an exclusive women’s retreat on 8 August 2026 at Muldersdrift, Johannesburg.

The wholesome retreat is themed “Sleep, Indulge and Bloom: Where rest meets refinement and women come together to restore, rise, and bloom.”

LaConco wrote the following about the retreat on Instagram:

“Mnge[friend], it’s been a while since we last did a retreat asambeni bafazi, ke sonaba![ladies let’s go and unwind.] A beautiful overnight of rest, healing, laughter, connection, and sisterhood awaits. All details are on the poster; my DM is open for enquiries,” she wrote.

Some of the activities the ladies will enjoy include a farm tour, breakfast, sundowner at the dam, bonfire dinner, women’s conference, flower picking & design your own bouquet, and sealing it all with a surprise gift.

LACONCO: AN ADVOCATE FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Empowering communities is truly LaConco’s forte, as she has initiated various projects through her organisation, Sikhanyisa iSizwe.

In April 2021, the mother of one hosted another Women in Conversation seminar, where various women gathered to share insights on various topics. The goal was to empower each other through the knowledge they had.

Each speaker, such as Innocent Sadiki and Ayanda Thabethe, covered a specific topic, including Mental Health, Spiritual Manifestation, and Self-Worth.

In September 2021, LaConco spearheaded a Maidens Camp in Johannesburg. It delved into the realities and dynamics among the maidens known as “izintombi.” She invited cultural experts to share nuggets on how maidens should carry themselves.

LaConco knows about the life of a maiden all too well, having participated in important cultural events such as the Umkhosi Womhlanga (Reed dance), which takes place every September at the Zulu King’s palace in KwaZulu-Natal.
