Oscar Mdlongwa, better known as the music legend Oskido, expressed immense gratitude after receiving a National Order from President Cyril Ramaphosa on 19 May 2026. Why did Oskido receive the Order of Ikhamanga?

According to the Presidency of the Republic of South Africa, Oskido was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga for creating opportunities for young musicians. As such, he has expanded his impact beyond his own success as a DJ, record producer, entrepreneur, and kwaito pioneer.

On the same day that he received the Order, Oskido shared on his X account, “Deeply grateful to President Ramaphosa and the Presidency for this honour, the Order of Ikhamanga. But I received this on behalf of all of us.” He acknowledged his family, Kalawa Jazmee, DJs United, and all the pioneers, creatives, and believers.

“We lift each other, and God opens the doors. This is only the beginning.”

He also shared a video featuring various artists, including DJ Black Coffee, DJ Zinhle, and Kwesta, among others, singing his praises.
