Report: Orlando Pirates to sign PSL top striker

Orlando Pirates might be eyeing lethal Golden Arrows striker Junior Sede Dion for next season.

The Ivorian forward is currently the league’s top goalscorer with 14 goals.

Having struggled for goals from their strikers this season, the Buccaneers might go for an established goalscorer.

According to Soccer Laduma, Orlando Pirates are believed to be monitoring the Arrows striker having had a great season.

“It’s true, there has been interest in Dion after the season he has had,” a source told the publication

“Pirates are one of the clubs believed to be monitoring him closely. When you score that many goals in the PSL, especially in a team like Arrows where chances can sometimes be limited, people will notice you.

“He has done very well this season and there are clubs that feel he can do even more with stronger attacking players around him.”

Orlando Pirates already lost one striker

The Buccaneers have Evidence Makgopa, Andre de Jong, Yanela Mbuthuma and Boitumelo Radiopane as strikers but neither of them have found the net consistently.

Tshegoatso Mabasa was loaned midseason to Stellenbosch FC but he looks unlikely to return to Pirates next season.

Dion has been impressive this season but like will a move to Mayfair workout?

Most strikers who moved from smaller teams to the big three have often struggled to replicate their form with the exception of Peter Shalulile and Iqraam Rayners.

If Orlando Pirates are to get another striker, they will have to let go of one of their forwards.

Should Pirates sign Dion?
