Benni McCarthy has secured a major role after being confirmed as part of the BBC Sport punditry team for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Bafana Bafana legend and current Kenya head coach will join a star-studded line-up of analysts and presenters for the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
McCarthy is expected to begin his BBC role after Kenya’s June international friendlies against Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan, as Harambee Stars continue preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The former South Africa national team striker represented South Africa at both the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups during an illustrious playing career.
Now, more than two decades later, Benni McCarthy will return to football’s biggest stage in a different capacity – this time offering expert analysis to a global audience.
The former FC Porto, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United striker joins an elite panel assembled by BBC Sport for the expanded 48-team tournament.
Star-Studded BBC Line-Up
BBC Sport will broadcast 54 matches live across television and digital platforms, including iPlayer, Radio 5 Live, BBC Sounds and online channels.
Benni McCarthy will work alongside prominent football figures including Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, Micah Richards, Olivier Giroud, Joe Hart and César Azpilicueta.
Coverage will be fronted by presenters including Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan and Alex Scott.
Familiar Face for BBC Audiences
McCarthy is no stranger to broadcasting, having previously appeared on BBC Sport programmes and football podcasts as an analyst and guest pundit.
His appointment further strengthens his growing profile off the pitch while continuing his coaching project with Kenya.
