Kaizer Chiefs appear to be settled in terms of their team after a good 2025/26 season.

Although Amakhosi are about finish the season without a trophy, they secured third place finish in the Betway Premiership.

Having failed to finish in the top eight in the past two campaigns, this season was seen for them compete for the league in the early stages as well as the CAF Confederation Cup.

One of their outstanding players of the season is goalkeeper Brandon Petersen. The 31-year-old shotstopper has kept 13 clean sheets and is a contender for Goalkeeper of the Season.

Another inform player is Congolese attacker Glody Lilepo.

The 28-year-old has scored nine times across all competitions in 39 matches. Against AmaZulu, Lilepo scored his fifth league goal but was sent off for taking his shirt off shortly after.

His coach Cedric Kaze was not entirely upset with the Congolese’s celebration which led to his sending off.

Kaizer Chiefs ending season on a high

“Yeah, we need to be careful because he was already booked and he takes his shirt off when he celebrates his goal which means we going to miss him on our last game,” Kaze told SuperSport after the game.

“It’s an unfortunate situation, sometimes you understand as well the player passion and you know relieve for scoring.

“But it’s good we have the three points. But in the future, we need to be careful about things like that.”

Despite the improvements, Kaizer Chiefs have lacked consistency especially at the back.

The likes of Zitha Kwinika, Given Msimango, Inacio Miguel and Aden McCarthy have all slotted in at centre-back this season. Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef have to decide which defensive pairing they will go with next season if they are kept as co-coaches.

Can Chiefs win the league next season?
