How To Ruin Christmas actress Busisiwe Lurayi who played the role of Tumi, has sadly passed on. Fans of the stage and screen actress are sending her family numerous condolences messages for their tragic loss. Not a single fan anticipated the news and Mzansi was shocked.

Social media is also flooded with snippets from some of her most iconic scenes on both theatre and screen. Busisiwe was a formidable actress, but she was a reserved celebrity. All her acting work was public, but she kept her private life private. Sadly, she passed away in her residency home on the 10th of July 2022.

The cause of her death is still a mystery, but her family is waiting for the autopsy report. Her family promised the public to share more details surrounding her death as soon as they were available. Her family did, however, thank the fans of the late actress for their love and support from her early acting days to now.

Her most notable acting roles

In 2005 she joined City Ses’La and played the character of Phumzile. Phumzile was a fun and bubbly personality who was after her bag. She didn’t work or anything like that, but she spent so much of her boyfriend’s credit and cash. She and Themba were in love, and to spice up her character, she spoke very broken English, which was hilarious.

In 2007, she joined the Safari story Wild Cat Heart, and she played the role of Thandi. Thandi was a worker in a game reserve, and she lived there for most of her days. After the show, she went back to City Ses’La for many seasons.

When City Ses’La discontinued the sitcom Ses’Top la was born, Ses’Top La was a spin-off from the first sitcom. In the comedy, we saw the couple Themba and Phumzile making it out of their friend group and building a life together. Phumzile kept her old habits, and she and Themba eventually had a baby. She acted alongside giants like Trevor Gumbi and Warren Masemola on the show.

On the third season of the Netflix hit How To Ruin Christmas, it was suspected the actress would not make it back. Her character Tumi Sello dumped the character Khaya Manqele played by Yonda Thomas. Tumi left a group chat within the show, hinting that she wouldn’t be coming back.

Her fans are shocked over her death and saddened as it was sudden and unexpected. Fans of the show shared how sad that irony is. She left the chat on the show to travel to Mauritius alone.

Busisiwe has played the role of Phumzile for years now. Many suspected it was over payment disputes when she didn’t return for the current season. Although it was never confirmed, that was just the consensus amongst the viewers. She was replaced by the former Uzalo actress Nelisa Mchunu and the show continued. Some tweeps suspect she was facing an illness privately.
