On Sunday morning, an underage driver was killed in a high-impact collision on Pretoria Road in Silverton, Pretoria East.
The collision occurred between two vehicles, with one of the vehicles veering into the centre median and colliding with a metal pole. Three male patients, all believed to be 16 years old, were discovered entrapped within the wreckage of the vehicle wrapped around the pole, according to Emer-G-Med.

The vehicle’s driver and one passenger were both critically injured, with the third occupant suffering moderate injuries. “With the assistance of the Tshwane Fire Department as well as the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Rescue Unit, the extrication process began to free the patients from the wreckage.
“Unfortunately the underage driver demised whilst still trapped within the vehicle and he was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.”

Emer-G-Advanced Med’s Life Support Paramedic also used the Jaws of Life to free the critically injured passenger, who was then placed on a ventilator. Because of the severity of his injuries, it was decided to airlift him to a specialist facility.
