Fans pitch ideas to save Tracy Hlophe’s ‘unsustainable’ business

On 11 May, fans of Tracy Hlophe pitched ideas to save her business after her husband, Felix Hlophe, announced on Facebook that “it is unsustainable.”

IS TRACY HLOPHE’S BUSINESS FACING IMMINENT CLOSURE?

The Gagasi FM breakfast host revealed that it was hard to tell his wife about the possible closure of her much-loved business.

“I’ve seen horrible things I’ve had unbearable chapters in my life. I’ve endured bitter experiences in business,” he wrote.

“But nothing is more shattering than having to tell my wife we need to close down her business because it’s unsustainable. She’s mortified. Can only get stronger. One dream at a time,” he added.

FANS THROW IN SUGGESTIONS FOR TRACY

Felix’s post was met with mixed reactions; some suggested that Tracy should review her pricing as they are deemed a bit expensive for their liking.

While others advised Tracy to market her business since she lacked visibility.

Charrity Chaz Mabila wrote on Facebook: “It can exist online. No rent or lots of staff needed. She just needs to have a social media presence, create content, and have a stand at events.”

Mbali Mabuh Shezi commented: “I think the marketing strategy needed to be reviewed. We all love uMama but I hardly saw her work.”

Khule Dee Biyase added: “Giving up is not an option. Two brains, right? Y’all will come up with something. Maybe different location, changing your target market, aligning with competitors. Anything.”

A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE INTO TRACY’S BUSINESSES

Nailed It, an establishment founded by Tracy, enjoyed such a remarkable run in its short tenure.

Viewers got a glimpse of the nail bar while the renovations unfolded during their reality show Life with Felix.

Clients enjoyed great experiences, thanks to the excellent service and the nail bar’s prime location on Durban’s Florida Road.

Therefore, the possible closure of her business is surprising, especially after unveiling new prices in April 2026

In 2025, Felix happily posted about his wife’s new business venture with a short message on Facebook:

“My heart is full,” he wrote.

Tracy has been around the entrepreneurial block for a while now. In January 2019, she turned her passion for cooking into a business called Tracy’s Soul Cafe.

Unfortunately, it had to close down due to the coronavirus pandemic the following year.

A few years ago, Tracy once again demonstrated her gift for capitalising on her personal interests by establishing a wig brand which attracted major support from women.
