Who is better Thomas and Skhumba; or Dineo and Sol Phenduka on the breakfast club at KayaFM? Fans have their say

Fans miss Thomas and Skhumba; as Dineo and Sol Phenduka struggle to win over the breakfast club at KayaFM, the debate is on.

The duo has been trending, and all for the wrong reasons. The breakfast show went through a very big shift that saw the favourite duo Skhumba and Thomas get replaced by Dineo and Sol Phenduka.

This move had social media up in arms since it was announced.
Many loyal fans have been complaining to no end about the lack of chemistry between Ranaka and Sol.

Now granted, it’s just been a few days since they started on the 1st of July, but for some, it’s already taking too long.

Most complaints are about Dineo jogging the space and not giving Phenduka the platform to take the lead. Social media thinks this makes him look like Dineo’s sidekick instead of a co-host.

“Dineo is the Anchor of the show. Sol does traffic and a co-host like on the podcast,” one comment read.

Everyone is still in shock at the move to take Skhumba and Thomas off the morning show and the evening one.

Fans are calling this a demotion and a senseless one at that. The public believes that the number of listeners will decline in the morning.

The listeners have said that they feel like the change has disrespected the Legacy of the late great Bob Mabena and Kuli Roberts, who once were the hosts of the breakfast show on Kaya FM. The two were fan favourites.

Sol Phenduka is one half of the Podcast and Chill with MacG, which brings in a lot of viewers on YouTube.

It is believed that he is bringing many of those viewers to the breakfast show, and so does Dineo, who is now a veteran in the radio industry.

Dineo has been making moves from one great radio station to another. She used to do the drive on Yfm and worked for 5FM, Highveld stereo, Cliffcentral and recently Metro FM. That means she certainly has the tools to deliver.

Thomas and Skhumba have moved to the 10 pm slot for their new show, Last Call, and according to the fans, the show is lit. They took the charisma to the nighttime.

Everyone is still confused as to why a power couple like Thomas and Skhumba were removed from the breakfast show and taken to a very late show. Listeners do not believe this move was due to the advertisers or the decline in listener numbers.

KayaFM listeners say they are lost without the two in the morning and are now moving that dial to other radio stations.

It looks like Thomas and Skhumba have taken their morning listeners to the nighttime.
