BETWAY PREMIERSHIP: MAMELODI SUNDOWNS VS KAIZER CHIEFS

Log leaders Sundowns are unbeaten in 18 league matches and come into this clash on the back of successive wins, but the pressure is firmly on with Orlando Pirates closing the gap.

Kaizer Chiefs, meanwhile, are pushing for a CAF spot and have already shown they can disrupt the title race. Amakhosi held Pirates to a 1-1 draw last month and also forced Sundowns into a goalless stalemate in their first-round meeting on 27 August 2025.

Amakhosi also have a recent reminder of what they can do against the Brazilians, having secured a 2-1 win in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals on 13 April last season, one of their few victories over Sundowns in recent years.

That said, the overall rivalry has largely favoured Sundowns, who have dominated the fixture in recent seasons, including a 4-0 win in the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup and a 5-1 league triumph in May 2024.
