This is a bold new Netflix original series adapted from Sue Nyathi’s acclaimed novel. Produced by award-winning Stained Glass Productions, the 22-episode drama is set to premiere on June 12, 2026, and is already being positioned as one of the platform’s most ambitious African storytelling projects to date.

It blends power, love, betrayal and emotional consequence, exploring the collapse of a man’s carefully constructed empire as his personal choices begin to unravel everything he has built.

At the centre of The Polygamist is Jonasi Gomora, who is a self-made CEO and has built a thriving business empire and an equally complex personal life. His world is all defined by ambition, success and control. All this comes crumbing as the story progresses.

The author of The Polygamist, Sue Nyathi, took to X to celebrate the teaser captioning “ I want to thank @NetflixSAand @stainedglasstv_for takingmy story from print to film. This is such a surreal moment for me!! #ThePolygamist is my debut novel, the book that got rejected by many publishers. I took a bet on myself and self-published. The bet paid off!!”.
