Title race: Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns remaining fixtures

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are set for a title battle down to the wire in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

The Buccaneers currently occupy top spot in the latest Betway Premiership standings, while defending Betway Premiership champions Masandawana are just one point behind – and have a game in hand.

Let’s take a look at the Bucs and The Brazilians’ remaining fixtures.

ORLANDO PIRATES REMAINING FIXTURES

Orlando Pirates have five fixtures left in their campaign.

That’s a maximum of 15 points to play for – and to try and heap as much pressure onto Mamelodi Sundowns as possible.

Up next for the Bucs is the Soweto derby against Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

Thereafter, they play against Stellenbosch FC (A), Magesi FC (A), Durban City (H), and Orbit College (A).

Ironically, it was ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt’s charges, Stellenbosch FC, who ended Mamelodi Sundowns’ 10-match unbeaten streak on Wednesday evening when Stellies held Masandawana to a 1–1 draw at Loftus Versfeld to breathe new hope into Bucs’ title hopes.

BUCS REMAINING FIXTURES

  • Sunday, 26 April vs Kaizer Chiefs, FNB Stadium – 15:00
  • Tuesday, 5 May vs Stellenbosch FC, Athlone Stadium – 19:30
  • Saturday, 9 May vs Magesi FC, Seshego Stadium – 20:00
  • Saturday, 16 May vs Durban City, Orlando Stadium – 15:00
  • Saturday, 23 May vs Orbit College, Royal Bafokeng Stadium – 15:00

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FATE IN THEIR OWN HANDS

Despite dropping points against Stellies, Mamelodi Sundowns are still in charge of their own destiny.

As mentioned, The Brazilians have a game in hand, so they have six all-important fixtures remaining.

They currently sit second on 57 points from 24 matches.

That means, if they were to win their remaining six matches, they would successfully defend their Betway Premiership crown – no matter what Orlando Pirates do.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS REMAINING FIXTURES:

  • Sunday, 26 April vs Richards Bay, Richards Bay Stadium – 17:30
  • Wednesday, 29 April vs Polokwane City, Peter Mokaba Stadium – 19:30
  • Sunday, 3 May vs Polokwane City, Loftus Versfeld – 15:00
  • Wednesday, 6 May vs Kaizer Chiefs, Loftus Versfeld – 19:30
  • Saturday, 9 May vs Siwelele FC, Lucas Moripe Stadium – 17:30
  • Saturday, 16 May vs TS Galaxy, Mbombela Stadium – 15:00
