Arrows’ Asking Price For Chiefs Target Revealed

Golden Arrows are seeking ‘less than R3-million’ for Kaizer Chiefs target Pule Mmodi, while his agent has provided an update on the situation.

Mmodi has emerged as one of the most talked-about potential off-season transfers, with Chiefs leading the race to sign the highly-rated Golden Arrows winger ahead of the 2022/2023 DStv Premiership campaign.

The 29-year-old typifies the late bloomer category synonymous with South African football, where some of the brightest fall through the cracks and only a select few manage to rise through the divisions to reach the elite level.

His immense talent since first arriving in the top-flight two seasons ago has seen him on the radar of Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos, and now the likes of AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates and Chiefs have been alerted of his abilities ahead of the transfer window.

Chiefs have already released 12 players and signed seven, and Mmodi is said to be another important part of their squad rebuild.

His agent Solomon Seobe of SR Sports Management confirmed there’s interest, but admits he’s still left in the dark about where Mmodi may be going as it’s up to the Chairlady of Abafana Bes’thende Matho Madlala to weigh up his next move on the basis of any incoming offers.

“The last year starts on the first of July. So he’s not a free agent,” Seobe confirmed to iDiski Times in Edition 60. “AmaZulu contacted me and I spoke to them, they wanted him but after they saw in the media that Chiefs are after him they eased their interest a bit.

“We don’t know what’s happening between Arrows and Chiefs, we think they are still talking – there’s nothing from Pirates at the moment, that I can say.

“With regard to transfer fees, that’s between Chiefs and Arrows, if they agree on a fee then I’ll enter to talk personal terms. I think this week I will get clarity about where he’s going because he’s reporting for pre-season this week and we’ll be able to get more information.”

Mmodi himself admitted to this website last month that he would love to join Chiefs ahead of the upcoming season, stating he feels he can bring something to the club within what has been dubbed as a revolution by the Amakhosi hierarchy.

This website understands that an offer of just less than R3-million would be enough to pry away Mmodi from Arrows in this transfer window.

iDiski Times has learnt about the asking price from people close to the Free State-born player, with Mmodi in a prime position for the biggest move of his career since making his debut at the elite level at age of 27.

Mmodi, who joined Arrows from Uthongathi FC at the beginning of the 2020/2021 season, has made a huge impression in the DStv Premiership, and it is not surprising that Chiefs have made him to one of their priority signings as they looked to beef up their attack, after parting ways with three key strikers in this window.

With the 29-year-old’s current contract expiring at the end of the 2022/2023 season, it would make sense why Arrows are willing to sell Mmodi for less than R3 million, as he would be available to sign for free with a team of his choice in January 2023.

The Free State-born talent has scored 10 goals and registered two assists in 56 games in all competitions since bursting onto the scene in the top-flight, upon being snapped up by GladAfrica Championship side Uthongathi.
