On Thursday, a 21-year-old man was murdered in Iqadi, KwaZulu-Natal, for allegedly refusing to return borrowed clothes.

He said that members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the scene at around 09:06 on Thursday.

According to Balram, the murdered man was confronted by two brothers who demanded that he return a pair of jeans he had borrowed.

“The brothers confronted the man who was known to them outside his home and asked him to hand over a pair of jeans which he borrowed.

“The man refused and insisted that they return a pair of takkies which they borrowed from him then only would he hand over the jeans.”

Balram claimed that the victim’s older brother, a 28-year-old man, grabbed him and pinned him to the ground before his teenage brother (18) stabbed him in the chest. “The injured man died at the scene. Both brothers fled on foot in an unknown direction.”
