Award-winning South African actress Dawn Thandeka King is making the most of her time in Zimbabwe, connecting with communities and embracing local culture during her visit.

Chief Dakamela Awards draw regional star

King travelled to Nkayi where she attended the Chief Dakamela Awards, held from 3 to 6 April.

The annual event celebrates culture and community excellence, attracting notable figures from across the region.

Her presence added star power to the festivities, with many attendees eager to see the celebrated actress in person.

Beyond official appearances, King has been spending time with locals in Bulawayo.

Videos circulating on social media show her visiting Tshabalala Township, where she shared a relaxed lunch with residents at Chicken Corner.

King hosts a free acting workshop

Aspiring actors in Bulawayo are in for a treat, as King is set to host a free acting workshop at the Amakhosi Cultural Centre on 9 April.

The session is expected to draw young creatives eager to learn from one of South Africa’s most respected performers.

Thandeka King visits Highlanders FC

King also paid a courtesy visit to Highlanders Football Club, one of Zimbabwe’s biggest football institutions, on Wednesday.

The club expressed its appreciation for her visit in a statement:

“It was an absolute honor to host the legendary Dawn Thandeka King at our offices today. Her visit was a momentous occasion, marked by the profound insights and vibrant spirit she shared with the team.”

King’s visit highlights the growing cultural exchange between Zimbabwe and South Africa, as artists continue to connect beyond borders.
