Orlando Pirates could lose both Mofokeng and Appollis

Orlando Pirates might lose both Relebohile Mofokeng and Oswin Appollis at the end of the season.

Both players have been on top of their game this season, contributing nearly 20 goals across all competitions.

Mofokeng has been linked with AS Monaco and given his good run of form in the second half of the season, he is likely to leave the Buccaneers at the end of the current campaign.

Appollis, on the other hand, has reportedly been attracting interest from Europe after a brilliant debut season at Pirates.

Ex-Bucs winger Lebohang Mokoena feels Cape Town City youngster Emile Witbooi could be a perfect replacement for either Mofokeng or Appollis.

“I love the boy plus he is the young man of Surprise, you know, it is in the blood. You can tell he is in the blood. We have sung praises for the boy. The club does not want to release him, they are probably going to sell him for a huge amount because he is one for the future,” Mokoena said on SoccerBeat.

“He has got experience at international level coming with the U20, U17. He’s come through those structures and also he is a well-developed player so you are going to get something out of that player as he grows and matures.”

Will Pirates sell both Mofokeng and Appollis?

Mokoena explained why Witbooi could be a good addition for the Buccaneers next season.

“He’s come through those structures and also he is a well-developed player, so you are going to get something out of that player as he grows and matures. So, a suitable replacement for Rele because Witbooi is also a player that if you also give him that free role, get into those spaces, he is very tricky, skillful he can score goals and crowd favourite,” he said.

Both Appollis and Mofokeng are expected to be in the final Bafana Bafana squad to play in the FIFA World Cup in June. It looks more likely that both of them might leave Orlando Pirates next season especially if they impress further at the World Cup.

Who should replace Rele?
