Unathi Nkayi was forced to delete an insensitive post where she was rubbing shoulders with the Queen Mother of Eswatini. Her trip to Swaziland saw her gaining the opportunity to meet and pose next to her. But she had to remove the post after seeing how hurt the majority of her followers were.
In the post, Unathi was seen kneeling down next to the Queen mother and even accompanied the picture with a short caption.
She said she felt honoured to be in her presence saying she will cherish the experience forever.
“I had the honour and privilege of being allowed an audience with her majesty the Queen Mother this weekend. An experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. A moment of beauty grace, honour, and dignity, wrapped in a blanket of tender love and a deep knowledge of who we are as a Nguni, Bantu people.
“A ceremony she held and led in honour of her granddaughter Princess Temaswati as the matriarch of the Swati Kingdom,” she wrote.
But her post was met with a lot of backlash and negative comments from people. Instead of ignoring the backlash and being ignorant by keeping the post of even responding to the negativity, she deleted the post.
When asked why she decided to do that, Unathi told TshisaLive that she was left concerned by how people reacted to it and how they were hurt, so she did the right thing by deleting the post.
“I deleted the post because I see how much it hurt people. I am always concerned with how people feel and that spoke to me. It’s not about the backlash being warranted or not. People explained to me what’s going on and I did what I thought was right which is to delete,” she told the publication.

Unathi is not one to accept ‘defeat’ looking at how her name got dragged by his former close friend Somizi Mhlongo on Living The Dream with Somizi.
Unathi once spoke about unfriending Somizi after the abuse allegations made by Mohale. She spoke about how she does not want her friends playing R Kelly’s music after his conviction.
Somizi saw this and addressed it on his show saying he does not ever want to see Unathi ever again.
“Honestly, I was shocked, I was disappointed but it is what it is. Sometimes when people show you who they are, you leave them, Someone that I thought we were okay with went public.”
He then said, “The devil does not want to see me prosper. This day has been a day and a half.”
Somizi said he never wants to ever work with her ever again, “If I have to go work with her, in the same space with her. It’ not in my nature to say its either me or somebody else. I’m not going to take bread away from somebody who feeds her kids and family and stuff. I’m going to make sure my space and peace is protected, one. I never want to talk to her again, I never want to speak to her again.”
“I will be professional. Being professional doesn’t mean that when she says something I must agree with her… but I’m going to make it clear before I even start that this person must never even look at me,” he concluded.
