R&B singer and actress Brandy Norwood is scheduled to receive the 2,839th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, 30 March.

Guest speakers for the ceremony are actress and writer Issa Rae, and singer and music producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce made this announcement on its website.

Brandy, 47, came into the music scene as a teenager with her highly successful single I wanna be Down from the 1994 debut album, Brandy.

She has since released seven studio albums.

Brandy recently partnered with fellow musician Monica for the The Boy Is Mine tour, styled after their 1998 hit of the same name.

Not only has she seen success in her music career, but Brandy has also had great success in acting. She headlined her own sitcom, Moesha, for six seasons.

Among her more recent television projects is the drama Queens, a series about four women in their 40s who get back together to rekindle the success of their earlier music career as a music group.

In 1997, she starred as Cinderella alongside Whitney Houston, who played her fairy godmother in the film. She also starred in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., among a few films.

Her family is notable in entertainment, with her mother Sonia having managed her career from early on. Her younger brother, Ray J, also entered music behind her.

The family had a short-lived reality show, Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business, between 2010 and 2011.

Brandy has a 23-year-old daughter, Sy’rai, who is also following in her mother’s footsteps.
