Verushka Singh has officially stepped down from her role as Mrs South Africa 2026, just four months after making history with her crowning.
The trailblazing queen, who became the first Indian South African woman to win the coveted title, confirmed that her decision to walk away was deeply personal and rooted in prioritising her loved ones.
In her statement, Singh made it clear that the choice came from within, saying, “This decision is entirely my own, made with my family’s needs at heart,” while expressing gratitude for her time on the platform, adding that she leaves with “nothing but appreciation.”
Her abrupt exit reportedly caught organisers and supporters off guard, especially given the momentum she had built since her win.
Known for her work as a climate change consultant and her background in chemical engineering, Singh had positioned herself as a modern, purpose-driven titleholder with ambitions that stretched far beyond the crown.
Stepping into the spotlight with immediate effect is First Princess Carika Bebb, who now assumes the title of Mrs South Africa 2026.
Thrust into the role overnight, Bebb has already signalled her readiness to embrace the responsibility, pledging to lead with intention and continue championing women’s empowerment.
