  • A Gauteng man has been arrested for allegedly drugging his wife and sharing explicit videos of her without consent over several years.
  • The arrest followed an international tip-off, with police uncovering disturbing digital evidence during their investigation.
  • A second suspect linked to similar offences has also been arrested, and both are expected to appear in court.

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested a 34-year-old man in Gauteng for allegedly drugging his wife, sexually assaulting her, and distributing explicit videos without her consent.

The arrest follows information received from the National Crime Agency (NCA) through the British High Commission in Cape Town, regarding a South African suspect believed to be involved in drug-facilitated sexual offences.

According to police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk, the suspect is alleged to have drugged his wife over a period of five years, during which he recorded and distributed explicit material of sexual acts performed on her without her consent.

The victim was reportedly sedated and unconscious at the time of the incidents.

The suspect was arrested in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, on Thursday, 26 March 2026. Forensic investigations at the scene uncovered multiple images and videos linked to drug-facilitated sexual offences, as well as illegal child exploitation material on his electronic devices.

In a related development, a second suspect with a similar modus operandi was also arrested in Germiston. Police have indicated that the two suspects are known to each other.

Both men are expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 27 March 2026.

They face multiple charges, including sexual assault, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and the possession, distribution, and production of illegal child exploitation material.

They are also charged under Section 16 of the Cybercrimes Act for the non-consensual sharing of intimate images.
