Verushka Singh steps down as Mrs South Africa just months after win

The Mrs South Africa organisation has confirmed that Verushka Singh has officially stepped down from her title as Mrs South Africa 2026.

Singh won the crown on 15 November 2025 at Emperors Palace. She made history as the first Indian South African woman to win the title. Outside of pageantry, she works as a chemical engineer and climate consultant.

VERUSHKA SINGH FOCUSES ON FAMILY

The organisation shared that Singh chose to resign so she can focus on her personal life and family. In a statement, Singh said she feels grateful for the opportunity she had during her time as Mrs South Africa.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have served on this platform and for the incredible women I’ve had the privilege of standing alongside,” she said.

She also made it clear that the decision was hers alone. “This decision is entirely my own, made with my family’s needs at heart, and I step away with nothing but appreciation for Mrs South Africa and what it stands for,” she added.

SUPPORT FROM THE ORGANISATION

The CEO of Mrs South Africa, Joani Jacobs, praised Singh for how she carried the title. “Verushka has carried the title with dedication and professionalism during her time on the platform,” said Jacobs.

She also confirmed that the organisation supports Singh’s decision to prioritise what matters most in her life right now.

VERUSHKA SINGH PASSES ON THE CROWN

Following tradition, the First Princess, Carika Bebb, has officially taken over the title of Mrs South Africa 2026.

Bebb shared her excitement about stepping into the role. “It is an honour to step into this role and to continue the work of this incredible women empowerment platform,” she said.

She added that she plans to represent the organisation with purpose and make a meaningful impact

VERUSHKA SINGH LEAVES A LEGACY

The Mrs South Africa organisation says all planned events and programmes will continue as scheduled. They remain focused on their mission to empower and develop women who want to make a difference in their communities.
