  • Veteran playmaker Themba Zwane returns to the national fold for the first time since his injury lay-off.
  • South Africa host Panama on 27 March in Durban and 31 March in Cape Town.
  • These matches serve as Hugo Broos’s final home evaluation before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has narrowed down his selection to a 23-man squad for this month’s international friendlies against Panama.

The announcement is headlined by the long-awaited return of 36-year-old Themba Zwane, who successfully fought back from injury to reclaim his spot at a vital moment in the team’s World Cup preparations.

South Africa, currently ranked 60th, face a stern test against the 33rd-ranked Central Americans.

The first clash takes place at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on 27 March, where the team will also debut their new adidas kit.

The second leg follows on 31 March at Cape Town Stadium, marking the nation’s final home appearance before the World Cup kicks off in June.

While the squad features recalls for Bongokuhle Hlongwane and Thapelo Maseko, several notable names have missed the cut.

Thapelo Morena, Mohau Nkota, and Iqraam Rayners were among those omitted as Broos looks to finalise his tactical blueprint.

These fixtures represent the last opportunity for the coach to assess his options on home soil before the global showpiece begins.
