Pitso Mosimane met Al Ahly’s board of directors on Sunday after two public statements by the club had raised question marks about his future.
The South African coach returned to Egypt on Saturday after completing his CAF Pro License in Morocco last week, and met the club’s board, including president Mahmoud El-Khatib and chairman Yassin Mansour.
Egyptian media had speculated over Mosimane’s future after the club had put out two public statements about imminent meetings with the coach, amid pressure from several former players, which even alerted his wife and agent, Moira Thlagale to travel to Egypt.
However, the club’s leadership and their South African coach put all their differences aside and agreed to focus on the upcoming games, according to FilGoal.
In addition, Al Ahly’s leadership have granted Mosimane permission to add another member to his technical team should he wish to do so.
Finally, the board have asked Mosimane to improve the club’s performances and results after they only won three of their last 10 games in all competitions before Sunday’s 1-0 win in the Egyptian Cup over second division side Al Masry Salloum.
Ahead of the match, Al Ahly’s Executive Director Said Shalaby had already come out and revealed the coach will stay.
Mosimane didn’t spend the game on the sidelines but will return to the dugout on Wednesday when Al Ahly face El Sharqia in the first of their four catch-up games.
The truce among Al Ahly’s leadership will also help Mosimane and his team to prepare for the upcoming derby against Zamalek which will take place on Sunday, 19 June.
