AI photo of DJ Maphorisa and Mawhoo kissing goes viral

DJ Maphorisa and Mawoo have once again found themselves at the centre of dating rumours after a set of AI-generated images of the pair went viral online.

The pictures, which began circulating on social media on 15 March 2026, showed the two artists appearing cosy at what looked like an event. In one of the images, they were even depicted sharing a kiss.

The images were shared by a controversial X user and quickly gained traction, reigniting speculation that the amapiano hitmaker and the singer could be romantically involved.

The rumours are not entirely new; back in 2025, music personality Tebogo G Mashego had claimed during one of his online rants that the two were seeing each other privately.

Those claims were later echoed by Sfiso ‘Mafitsotso’ Ndlovu, who alleged that MaWhoo had been spotted driving one of Maphorisa’s luxury cars, further fuelling speculation about their relationship.

Despite the ongoing chatter, Mawhoo previously shut down the rumours, making it clear that she has not been romantically linked to anyone in the industry.

“I’ve neither dated/ been chowed by anyone in the industry,” she said at the time.

Even so, the resurfacing of the AI-generated images has once again divided social media.

While some users were convinced the pair could be a good match, others were quick to question the authenticity of the photos and the narrative surrounding them.

“These two would make such a great couple. I’m yearning for them,” one user commented.

Another added, “G Mashego told you guys, and you said he’s on drugs.”

Others approached the situation with humour, with one joking, “Phori wants them one by one!”
