A highly-rated young striker has revealed that one of his biggest dreams is to represent Bafana Bafana at International level.

Max McMillan was born in England to a South African father and English mother. The 19-year-old joined the Cod Army at the start of the season from the Leeds United academy, where he had harnessed his skills for 13 years. McMillan explained that the move was motivated by the desire to play first-team football, and Fleetwood offered that opportunity with their belief in giving young players opportunities.

In 23 appearances across all competitions last season, the forward netted 16 goals and assisted a further three strikes – this includes a goal he netted for the senior team in the FA Cup.

Speaking to FARPost from his England base, the hitman said he was pleased with his progress last season.

“My first season at Fleetwood was very good, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Right from the first couple of weeks there, I knew this club had high expectations, and they gave me a lot of opportunities which allowed me to train and play games for the first team,” he said.

“At the start of every season, I always write down goals I want to achieve, and one of them was to score 15+ goals and reaching that was a positive, as well as other goals that I managed to achieve, such as making my senior team debut.”

With many senior players expected to leave in the transfer window, the forward is ready to fight for a regular place in the senior squad next season.

“For the upcoming season, I would like to be in and around the first team as much as possible, but if that’s not the case, I would like to go out on loan and play as much senior football as possible. Also, making my South African debut would be a dream come true, so hopefully, that will be possible.”
