South African-born midfielder Kgaogelo Chauke has signed a two-year contract with Premier League side Southampton.

The 19-year-old who was linked with a move to Manchester City earlier this season, was set to see his contract expire at the end of this month.

Two years on since his first professional deal, the talented teenager has been in and around the first-team set-up and made his debut in the FA Cup under Ralph Hasenhüttl in January 2021.

According to The Daily Echo, the player and his representatives agreed to the new contract with the Saints on the condition of securing a loan deal to further his development with regular senior first-team football.

He’s captained their Premier League 2 side for most of 2021/22 and has been rated amongst the finest prospects within the club’s esteemed academy.
