An 18-year-old Limpopo teenager appeared before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, following allegations that he raped his 10-year-old disabled brother.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the incident reportedly took place in Ga-Kopa in February while the victim’s mother was attending a funeral.
The incident came to light after the mother noticed that the child was in pain while bathing him. The 10-year-old later disclosed that his older brother had raped him.
“The case was reported to Motetema Police Station on Monday, 10 March 2026, transferred to the Groblersdal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, and the suspect was arrested the same day,” SAPS said in a statement.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident and urged parents and guardians to report such crimes to the police immediately.
“The SAPS will pursue it with the utmost seriousness, and the FCS will ensure a thorough investigation. The suspect must face the full consequences of the law,” said Hadebe.
The accused has been remanded in custody and is expected to return to court on 18 March 2026 for a formal bail application while investigations continue.
