Star actor Wiseman Mncube excited for time on ‘Tropika Island of Treasure’

Wiseman Mncube is known for his acting chops on hits like Shaka iLembe, but who knew he would be eager to flex his swimming chops on Tropika Island of Treasure as a self-professed water baby.

The 36-year-old Durbanite spoke to The South African about this exciting and unfamiliar undertaking.

Are you a competitive person?

I’m here to find out… I’m just really nervous

What are you looking forward to the most about this opportunity?

To have fun. I don’t wanna focus on too many other things because if I’m stressed about other things, it will take away from having fun. If I focus on winning, I’ll lose out on the fun aspect. I always say that even in my career, if I have a lot of fun acting, I achieve a lot more. So I want to be in the moment and have fun.

Do you have a preferred island you would like to do this on?

No specific preference, but I’m a water baby through and through; I live in water. Waterfall, sea, whatever. That’s who I am. I’m excited about that, I won’t lie.

So the water challenges are right up your alley?

I’m a fish, man. I live in water.

If you could choose anyone, whether it’s someone already in your life, or on your wishlist, who would that be and why?

It would be a friend of mine, Mlekeleli Khuzwayo. He’s a contemporary dancer. That man is fit. He’s balanced. Mentally, he’s strong. If I could choose, I would be on the winning team with my dawg.

Do you have any fear that you hope they don’t tap into?

Heights! Yo! Jesus! If they say something about bungee jumping, my knees would buckle. I’m scared of heights.

Hopefully, your partner can be your strength there.

I hope my partner is not the same as me and would be able to handle such challenges.

Is there a lucky charm or emotional support item you’re taking with you?

My prayer. I’m a prayer warrior. That’s my mucky charm. And I pray in water. So, you can see that the combination will be powerful. Every body of water I see there, I will pray in.

What strength do you think will put you above your competition?

I’m an open-minded and open person, and I’m a water baby.
