Golden Arrows have announced the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg and Stellenbosch FC forward Ryan Moon.

The 25-year-old left South Africa in March 2021, joining Swedish top-flight outfit Varbergs BolS after a stint with Stellies and went on to win the Golden Boot award with seven goals in 26 appearances in his first season.

However, he opted not to exercise the two-year option and left Varbergs to explore other options. He was closely linked with a return to the Team of Choice after training with them for a few weeks, but Arrows confirmed his arrival on Wednesday.

“Abafana bes’thende are excited to announce the signing of Ryan Moon. Help welcome Ryan to the green and gold family and wish him a successful time with us at the club,” the club said in a statement.

Moon made 37 appearances for Stellies, scoring five times and assisting three more. He made his senior debut in South Africa for Maritzburg in February 2016 before moving to Amakhosi the following transfer window.

At Naturena, Moon featured 44 times, scoring seven goals and setting up one more. The young brother of former Bafana Bafana star Bryce Moon turns 26 in September.

Overall, Arrows will be Moon’s fifth club. The former Maritzburg United player spent three seasons at Kaizer Chiefs before two years at Stellenbosch. In 2021 he was at in Sweden with Varbergs but has been a free agent since returning to South Africa earlier this year.
