Al Ahly Give Update After Pitso Meeting

Al Ahly have given an update after a first meeting with head coach Pitso Mosimane, confirming they will continue their talks on Friday.

The Egyptian giants met with their South African coach via zoom on Tuesday evening, indicating they wanted to plan “the first team’s preparations for the upcoming period”.

However, it seems Al Ahly and ‘Jingles’ weren’t able to solve all discussion points and will now meet again when Mosimane returns to Egypt after completing his CAF Pro License this week in Morocco.

“Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly’s president, held a video meeting on Tuesday night with Pitso Mosimane, the team’s head coach,” the club said in a statement.

“The meeting saw the presence of Al Ahly Football Company board, headed by Yasseen Mansour, Hossam Ghaly, the club’s board member, and the club’s planning committee members, Mohsen Saleh and Zakaria Nassef.

“During the meeting, they discussed some points regarding the first team’s preparations for the upcoming period.

“Moreover, they are set to hold another meeting with the team’s coach upon his arrival in Cairo on Friday.”

The meeting came eight days after the lost CAF Champions League final and has many wondering why the club would announce their talks with coach Mosimane in public.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly president will also hold a public press conference on Saturday, when he will address the controversy around the CAF Champions League final after it was hosted in Morocco.

The decision, which duly followed all protocols, CAF’s head of media, Luxolo September told iDiski Times, was highly criticised by Mosimane and Khatib, with the president expected to ask for further learnings from this year’s process.

Al Ahly will return to the pitch on Sunday when they will host Al Masry Salloum in a cup match that was strangely scheduled in the middle of the current FIFA, meaning Mosimane will once again not have a full squad available.
