Cape Town City FC are considering luring Lebogang Manyama back to the Mother City after his exit from Kaizer Chiefs.

Last week, Chiefs announced that they won’t be renewing Manyama’s contract after spending three seasons with the club.

Manyama joined Amakhosi in August of 2018 after spending only one season in Turkey with Konyaspor – a move made possible after securing the PSL Footballer of the Season and Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award with City back in the 2016/17 season under then-head coach Eric Tinkler.

The 31-year-old made 98 appearances in all competitions for Amakhosi, finding the back of the net on 15 occasions and grabbing 15 assists. He was also part of the Chiefs squad that reached the 2020 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League final where they lost 3-0 to Pitso Mosimane’s side Al Ahly SC.

It has reached the iDiskiTimes desk that City are now is interested in getting the experienced midfielder as they will be participating in CAF Champions League in the 2022/23 season with a source close to the player stating they are ready to sign him, but first, they will have to look at the injury he recently suffered on whether it’s long-term or something minor.

SuperSport United and Sekhukhune United are among the clubs that are also said to be monitoring the situation, however, the latter may be put off by his wage demands as they look towards bolstering other areas of their squad first.

The Citizens will be aiming to bolster their squad as they are set to compete amongst the powerhouses on the continent in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League, while a left-back may be on the agenda due to Bafana Bafana defender Terrance Mashego suffering a knee injury while on international duty.
