Mawhoo bags multiple nods at Metro FM Music Awards 2026

Mawhoo is showing no signs of slowing down as she secures seven nominations at the Metro FM Awards.

Her name appears across both headline and genre-driven categories.

Mawhoo is in the running for Best Female Artist, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year, while also earning recognition in Best Dance Song of the Year, Best Kwaito/Gqom, Best Lekompo Song and Best Maskandi Song.

The broad sweep of nominations paints a clear picture: MaWhoo is not confined to one lane. From emotionally charged ballads to high-energy club records and traditional-infused tracks, she has managed to carve out a space that feels both commercially powerful and culturally grounded.

A major force behind this awards momentum is her collaborative hit “Bengicela.”

The single quickly evolved from a popular release into a full-blown streaming juggernaut.

It shot to number one across multiple platforms in South Africa, including Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Shazam and Audiomack.
