  • Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and members of his family were killed in US-Israeli air strikes.
  • The attack reportedly killed several top Iranian officials, escalating tensions across the region.
  • Retaliatory strikes and further casualties have been reported in multiple Middle Eastern countries.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed in his office on Saturday morning during US-Israeli air strikes. The tragedy was confirmed by BBC News on Sunday morning.

Confirmation of his death came hours after United States President Donald Trump alluded to Khamenei as one of the most evil leaders in history and called on Iranians to take control of their country.

Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law and grandchild were also killed in the attack.

On Saturday, war broke out in parts of the United Arab Emirates, with air raids reportedly killing approximately 40 Iranian officials.

Israel said it had killed several top officials, including the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which vowed to unleash “the most devastating offensive operation” against US bases and Israel.

It remains unclear whether the officials were in one location or multiple locations.

Iranian retaliatory strikes were earlier reported in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait, areas that host US military bases or are allied to the United States.

Further-more, over 200 people have been killed across Iran. At least 108 were killed when US and Israeli strikes hit a girls’ school, according to Iranian reports.
