Talks between Royal AM and a former Chiefs attacker regarding his future has hit a snag, the Siya crew can reveal.

Royal have been in discussion with Samir Nurkovic over a possible deal with the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit.

Siya sources have revealed that AmaZulu and an unnamed Turkish Süper Lig club were also believed to have shown interest in the player during the last few weeks of his contract at Naturena.

In a rebuilding phase, Chiefs have confirmed they have parted ways with several players on Wednesday afternoon, with Nurkovic being the first man to pack his bags. His contract expires on June 30.

However, injuries slowed down his progress as Nurkovic, who joined Chiefs from Slovakian second-tier team Komárno, struggled for form with only four goals in the last two seasons, one in the recently concluded campaign.

According to high-level sources, Royal AM are frontrunners to secure the signature of Nurkovic, but it is understood that negotiations between both parties over a deal have reached an impasse.

And despite Royal’s efforts to deflect interest from other suitors, indications are that the club has not yet reached an agreement with the player’s camp.

Insiders have revealed that one of the pressing issues may be related to the finer details of the proposed deal.
