  • The murder case of two young women has been adjourned to 1 April for further investigation.
  • The State is currently awaiting vital autopsy reports and ballistic forensics on a seized firearm.
  • Five men are in custody, four of whom are Lesotho nationals and one who is South African.

The Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court has postponed the trial of five men accused of murdering two young women until 1 April.

The delay follows a request from the State for further investigation into the deaths of Ntokozo Mazibuko and Andiswa Sontangane.

The victims disappeared on New Year’s Eve, and their bodies were discovered last month on a plot in Poortjie, south of Johannesburg.

The suspects, who face two counts of murder, remain in custody as the legal process unfolds.

The prosecution informed the court that it cannot proceed without the final post-mortem results to confirm the cause of death.

Additionally, forensic ballistic tests are still outstanding to determine whether a recovered firearm was used in the commission of the crime.

Of the five accused, one is a South African citizen, while the remaining four are nationals of Lesotho.
